Paul, also known as the oracle amongst the team, was born in Diep River, Cape Town, 1935. A teacher by profession he taught in Australia, Natal, Johannesburg and England and for 29 years at Bishops before moving onto Lenco Holdings and then Rugby365 since 1999. Paul coached rugby for 40 years and has had a long refereeing career, ending as a Currie Cup referee in 1985. Paul has written a number of books and articles on the subject of Rugby and maintains and contributes to the internationally acclaimed South African Referees site. An enriching part of his life was spent with Doc Craven and his team in the 1970s and 1980s trying to promote mixed race rugby in South Africa. Paul has had a happy family life with Margaret, their three children and eight grandchildren.
