BRIEF

SARU tasked us to do one thing – bring in a fan engagement property that would blow the spectators away and make the Cape Town 7s experience the most talked about leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series.

EXECUTION

To meet the brief, we needed to consult and partner with industry leaders in each of their respective categories.

Researching activations and latest technological enhancements used in stadiums around the world lead to 6 months of planning with structural engineers, show presenters, health and safety officers and broadcast directors lead to producing a 2-day fan engagement different to anything that World Rugby has experienced.

DELIVERABLES

Supplying and operating the biggest-ever temporary in-stadium screen on the African continent, spanning a whopping 320 square meters build in a 32:9 format on the top level of the Cape Town Stadium.

Combined with 2-days of scripted show coordinating bringing in 6 cameras, a 32×9 multi-switcher and a 20-man crew to ensure content elements such as Kiss Cams, an 80s-themed power hour and a never-before-seen Band Cam, while continuing to display the live game, upcoming fixtures and results.
